Week ten

After reread my blog, I found something interesting. My point of view will change as time goes by; as a result, I was surprised by my previous thoughts somewhat. However, by doing week tasks, I was cultivated to use different angles to see one thing and I believed it was my keypal who help me do the change. Although under the same topic, we still have different opinions and sometimes share our own experiences. I am sure by these week tasks, what I can learn is beyond my imagination.

As to grade, I think I will grade myself 7, because I know I still have room to improve. For example, my writing skills. About the usage of words and transitional phrases, I can try to be more specific and use some new words. On the other hand, I also need to learn how to utilize my time. To be honest, I sometimes feel tired and try to procrastinate my assignments because my mind went blank and feel nothing to say about the topic. Maybe I should search some information from Internet in order to inspire myself.

WEEK 9

When I first heard the words “strawberry generation” from news, I was curious about why they chose strawberry to represent younger generation. Strawberry has beautiful look, sweet but sour tasty and easy to squelch, and people think our e-generation has some characteristics like strawberry. I also notice that media tends to use the words too often when teenagers make mistakes. But, in fact,
everyone makes mistakes. After news media exaggerated how unstable and how low pressure resistance younger generation seems to be, the term “strawberry generation” has become a stigma totally.
I do not think I am a strawberry generation. However, indeed, I have some attributes match their so called strawberry generation. First, I pay attention to my appearance. I do not understand why this trait was categorized into strawberry generation. People often care about what they look in others eyes. It is quite normal. The point is that: pay not too much attention. Another one is “ability does not match educational background”, I think the reason may be we are not good at getting used to new environment easily. We younger generation needs to experience more so that we can get with our work and society and be more flexible.

Week six

In my opinion, I think a mistake is we do or say something wrong and will be scolded by others. And we may feel uncomfortable and frustrated when making a mistake. In short, I think a mistake is an obstacle to achieve our goals. I used to take mistakes as a symbol of humiliation. I was afraid of being blamed from others when I made a mistake which makes me embarrassed. As a result, I try my best to avoid making mistakes.
However, after listening to Prof. Pausch’s speech, my point of view had totally changed. It reminds me the sentence I wrote on comment on Task one:”…good judgment comes from experience. However, the experience often not so good.” Once I make a mistake, I will try to escape from it. But, when I slow down and think again, I realize that if I can learn from it, then I can avoid making the same mistake. So, why don’t we think like this way: Making a mistake can be a lecture for us. People make mistakes, but few of them know how to make good use of them. I think, mistakes can be a mirror which reflect the truly you. By looking into the mirror, I can see my shortcomings and try to fix it.

Week Five

About this picture, I think it is a model of collaborative learning and it clearly shows every important aspect of collaborative learning. This kind of learning way has become more and more common since I entered the college. In many courses, we need to separate into groups in order to do some papers or an oral report. To me, the most interesting part of this type of learning is "Generation Multiple Perspective". Through the discussion with my group members, I can learn others’ different opinions and thought, and surprise by another aspect which I have not thought of before. We share our advice and also learn from it. I think this part is the most meaningful and interesting part of group learning.
However, there is also a part that bothers me a lot—“Learning through Reflection”. I consider myself a careless person. When I write a composition, I often make mistakes easily and then next time, I make the same mistake again! I think the problem is I did not read my composition again and again before I submit it. Now, I try to keep two words in my mind all the time— reflection and revise. I hope every time when I am writing a composition, I will remember the two words clearly.

Week Four

I think the educational environment will definitely change by times. I remember clearly when I was in junior high school, every student need to carry a pile of books to school every day. We seldom used the Internet unless we needed to search some information from the Internet. However, as I entered the college I found some obvious changes on my learning way. Professors often use computers in class in order to show us some videos and pictures. We also need to finish our assignments, share and discuss different suggestion through the website and blog. Everyone can see your own point of view and post their comment. But, still, we need to have text books in different classes. I think our learning way is a little bit similar to the American college students.

In this video, I think a “Networked Students” should have some qualities that are—have an ability of organization, have access and love to share. However, when a “Networked Students” become a trend, what about the students who do not have access? What should they do? It seems that if you don’t have a computer or know nothing about the Internet, then you are out. A change always companies with positive sides and negative sides.

Week Three

As an artist, the most important thing is to give good performances. I don’t care too much about what they did and what they acted on other occasions. We all know that to be a celebrity may have no privacy and a lot of restrictions. Everything they do will be magnified and discussed no matter how small thing it is. Britney Spears might have a great lost and some strange acts after divorce, however I think only because she is a celebrity, these things will look really matter. If she is an ordinary person, no one will take these things seriously. No one care!
I am not a fan of Britney Spears, so I don’t know if I need to believe her words or not. Nevertheless, if I change view and she is my friend or family, I will believe her without hesitate. We all love our friends and family, so give a chance is an only way to do. Britney Spears is a signer, a dancer, an artist and also a celebrity. To be gossiped by people is unavoidable. To me, one thing I really care about is that whether she can give me a good performance.

Week Two

In my memory, I often have an argument with my mother when I was a junior high student. At that time, I want to improve my English and I set a study plan. However, there were too many temptations that I often lose my self-control. My mother decided to send me to a cram school without discussing with me. I was angry about that and had a quarrel with her. Things like this happened very often. The main reason is that I really hate about hearing she said:”I am doing this for YOU! You will regret of not listening to me.” I couldn’t understand why she always wants to make any decision for me. I am not a child anymore-that’s what I thought at that time.
However, as I tried to calm down and rethink my mother’s words, I found that they really make sense. My English really improved since I went to cram school. The feeling of regret and embarrassment made me uncomfortable. I think the reason why I can’t accept those words right at the moment is because I was in a bad mood and I took them as nonsense. Hence, I think if I can be a more communicative and rational person, trying to listen to and rethink about others’ suggestion instead of quarreling, then I can avoid unnecessary misunderstand and regret. Surely, these things are what I have been learning for a long time.
